April 2017’s Projects

April gave us so much visual delight in both design and format, with otherworldly illustration and spectacular foil printing. This month all the hard work came together in the climax of several ambitious, high profile projects. Some months, like this April, add to our legacy.

Jolly Edition Blog Post April 17 Contrasting siler foil NJ wedding invitation
Jamie & Marc's dramatic, high contrast, modern invitation with silver foil in mind. It was especially tricky to get the contrast right when printing, but we couldn't have been happier with the result. The crisp silver foil box sits perfectly framing the finessed typography inside. It's not easily to pull off a restrained, dark aesthetic, which is what makes this one of our favorite projects we've ever produced.
Jolly Edition Blog Post Mar 17 Santa Barbara wedding map
We're often asked to produce new custom maps of cities we've done before. We're always delighted that the locations important to clients are different from past clients, even when in the same city. We've produced several maps of Santa Barbara and they're always different, this one includes illustration to guide guests around for this high profile coastal wedding, featuring Montecito, Hollywood, The Biltmore, Villa Sevillano, Butterfly Beach, and the Santa Barbara Zoo.
Jolly Edition Blog Post Mar 17 mermaid invitation
We don't often get to illustrate mermaids so this was a real pleasure! There will be more to follow for this accordion-folding custom wedding invitation.
Jolly Edition Blog Post Mar 17 colorful gold foil wedding stationery set
It's difficult to say how much we love — love! —  Kathryn & Trent's custom invitation project. Always colorful and fun, each piece is unique but cohesive. The bold foil beautifully juxtaposes the gestural florals to create a dynamic balance of strong-yet-delicate, bold-yet-subtle. Even the envelopes are a full range of pink to magenta to wine. We could stare at this all day.

A detail of Kathryn & Trent's gold foil invitation. It's tricky to photograph foil because it needs a variance in light to display the full effect, but in person the design is very legible (and beautiful).
