January’s Projects

As is traditional for our little business we move office in January, a busy period without moving the paraphernalia that goes with a business, even one as small as ours. Despite the snowmageddon, and its ensuing white-out, January was filled with an abundance of vibrant, springtime color in our work. We saw the end of a few big projects and an influx of new clients looking to start the year in the best possible way — by commissioning genuinely custom design for the biggest day of their lives.

We also got to meet our new friends Audra and Matthijs (‘Iron Mike,’ to his friends) from Audra Wrisley Photography. We designed a custom stationery suite — now available for purchase — especially for Audra’s beautiful shoot in Bali. Green Wedding Shoes picked it up, which was a nice way to end the month.

Mala & Praveen's wedding ceremony by Jolly Edition
Mala & Praveen's wedding provided a spectacular, unique challenge for us; five ceremonies with two varying designs for each. This is a detail from their marriage ceremony, filled with texture, color, and lavish detail.

Mala & Praveen's mehendi celebration scene with ladies having henna applied to their hands and arms.
Juliana and Julien by Jolly Edition
Juliana and Julien's Provence celebration is the idyllic south of France wedding, full of ancient villages, lavender fields, and plenty of fine wine. Our job is always to make the most of the ingredients authentically and without pastiche. This is the cover of their gate-fold invitation, opening up to a scene of the courtyard their guests will fill on their wedding day.
Susanna and Casey by Jolly Edition. Illustration by Ana Petrak
Susanna and Casey's save the date featuring the Boston waterfront and the Kitcat clock haunting its skyline. These two lovely clients are marrying in Baltimore later in the year so expect (more) big things from this project, not least of all because our good friend Ana Petrak did such a great job, as always, with the illustration.
Shantel and Bradley by Jolly Edition
Shantel and Bradley invested in a custom map not only to help their guests navigate their tricky venue, but also to personify the personality of their celebration: “we want to bring the outside in.”
Hannah and Drew by Jolly Edition
Hannah and Drew's project broke many precedents for us, with an oversized, white foil printed invitation on luxury paper, not to mention the embossed envelopes and custom, hand-assembled envelope liners. There are few projects we've done in four years which are more complex than these beauties. The lovely Clair Rossiter did a great job with the illustration.
